You've all seen them from hybrid build from the same manufacturer (B20VTEC, K20/K24 etc) to Mazda motors in Honda's, Honda motors in Mazda's, etc. etc.

I am okay with hybrid motor builds and I'll even go as far as to say *some* complete swaps, and transplants among Japanese vehicles.

But - What what do you guys think about complete boundry crossovers. I'm talking for example the 2JZ motor transplanted in the BMW that ran this past weekend at JapFest.

Sure it was fast! But to me - it kills the authentic nature as well as balance of the end machine. This is my personal feeling however - what do you guys think about the idea?

I say its a tough one.... i would never condone a move that extreme, but sometimes people love the look of the car, comfort and styling ect.. but desire the performance of a different vehicle completely as your example shows, i think in most instances the person either is a bit off.. or they are solely interested in the numbers that can be produced and not the history and lineage of the cars.

In my mind you should stay true to the cars, Honda for Honda or Japan for Japan but never Euro for Japan... doesn't make sense. just my 2c

Yeah, I agree. Even when it comes to mixing motors from Jap brands across one another, something really doesn't feel right about it. I mean sometimes people don't have a choice - perhaps it's a money thing more than anything.

Seeing that Toyota powered BMW didn't have the same effect on me as would say a Supra have had. I guess each to their own but I agree, Keep the pedigree!
