Tough one, all about who can work those corners better - the awd system for most scoobies will mess things up for it introducing a lot of understeer - RX 7 at this point will take the inside line and rocket past.

A tuned (suspension) coupled with the 22B lsd is a different story altogether though.

Here is an interesting thought, 22B is hex for 555. The tabacco company that sponsored the vehicle many years ago in rally. Go on try it :-)

Well does anybody have a 22b? I have a series 6 RX7 Type R version 1 we can test his theory and post vids could be a shocker either way on a track.

M@verik, not easily :-) there is A LOT of understeer on most model Scoobies, good for straight line, not always great in corners in stock form (mostly).

I'd love to see a match up between the two, and we've got one contender for the battle so far, well done for stepping up to the plate Rob.

If both drivers are on top form, the rotary should take the win on a track filled with corners.

Nice. The RX7 hasn't really shown it's form in South Africa at track events so perhaps this is the making of my place in the car world. Tongue

There used to be a really neat white RX7 with TE37's fitted, saw it at two events around 3 years ago. Not sure what happened to the guy  Shocked

I know my friend Kobie used to race his fully modded American import RX7 for years and years before I got mine. At ODI he used to remove his wing to get more speed but he didn't use any nitrous and achieved a speed somewhere between 275 - 280+ km/h at ODI 1km challenge and he held that record for like a year or so until some guy made a faster RX7. Kobies is a lefthand drive and because it's American it has cream leather seats with a hell of a lot of mods but I don't think his would do a track event properly because it's got way too much power on the wheels and I think if he drives normally it does like 140km to a tank of petrol. I will step up to the track racing plate because drag racing kind of seems boring these days it's all about who has more power and whose ecu is smarter with traction and launch etc yawn, I'm old school

Technical ability. That's why we race isn't it? Exactly why circuit / time attack is important to me.

I see him on occasion in fourways. Very nice example of a RX7.

just for the record, the subaru in the picture is not a 22b.
One the other hand the wider track and the variable centre diff of the B makes for entertaining driving. the B had LSDs as standard.
the car that is in SA is far from standard, as are most RX7s...

my 2c

edit: the showdown is rather unlikely. The B, and its owner, has not been on the track for years.

Welcome to our forums. I agree 100% - a 22b around the track is an entirely different story - stock for stock.

Just to clarify something - because I just didn't get what you were referring to. This part:

We you trying to arrange a match up with someone you know with a 22B? None the less - really good to hear from a new member, welcome again.

PS: Please post up about your 240... have a serious soft spot for them :-)

Shocked Damn I didn't even look at the pics while posting to this thread. You're correct, that's a EJ20 GC8 in the picture. Rob the one you're looking to showcase is this one:

(Notice the lower bumper area for example. Can see how you got confused, the JDM spec EJ20 GC8 also came in a coupe)

Thanks for the pics, I take it you're the owner of this B? What sort of lap times were you averaging around Kyalami?

Your 240Z is in great condition - I wouldn't mind meeting up some day just to inspect it. From the picture you've kept her in great nick.

I took some time to think over answering to this, I acquired that picture of the so called 22B from wikipedia so somebody beeds to let them know it's the wrong car they have up. As for the 22B it's bot as sexy as I used to imagine it was, quite a let down. Next time perhaps when people say the car is not the right car they'll enlighten us all properly in their post about every single detail that makes the original car different like jdmmonkey did and not the other user. It's one thing to know it all but another thing to teach others so that we all know more.

Hey gents - Sir Rob, don't fret - I get your side and really think the other posters comment didn't come across correctly to you. I am sure no harm was intended by him :-)

Come on guys, we Love the scene, we Love these vehicles - share your experiences and information on them.

I do agree, and let it help future postings - if you comment on something and say - hey, this isn't right, explain why so others learn. I don't always have enough time to spend on here every day - the business keeps me VERY busy. I count on the entire community to drive itself and enjoy the effort and time put in to getting a great community going.

Great thread none the less and to all - keep posting.
