I have a suggestion why don't we start really showing the South African public a real rotary revolution and start proving why Japan are the ultimate car manufacturers. The Mazda forum is so so quiet there aren't many rotary guys living on there so I'm appealing to the rotary guys on here. We need to start throwing our modding ideas together and helping each and every rotary owner in South Africa out with any info we have. Support

I don't own a rotary but our business has all the IP to help develop parts for these machines / make correct use of parts already available. Not too many RX7 owners I am afraid, and the RX8 owners that I've come across locally stop at exhaust systems.

Not to worry, I've got your back - we just need to have that meeting to find out more about your future plans with the vehicle.

You're right we need to meet up buddy. I have so many ideas for rotary modifications, the RX8 guys have more potential then they think too but if they have any problems with their current engines my suggestion to them would be to buy a series 6 engine like mine and drop it in with a Spitronic management etc. The rotaries have so much power hidden inside of them but that's not all about them, the perfect balance of the RX7 body and it's handling is something to speak of all by itself. The car is capable of handling high speeds in standard form so modifying is just taking something perfect and making it into a creation that legends are made of.

The Type R version 1 like I have makes a standard 195kWs at the flywheel and 294nms at the flywheel.

Spitronics management has its place. There are better alternatives for your platform Rob! Much better. Let's see if we can get some RX7 & 8 interest here, maybe some of the serious boys over at MOCSA with their Rx's can come join the discussions a bit.

As for our meeting, just drop me a mail and we can work around that.

My main reason for Spitronics at present is that they have a bit of backup here, I know to me the best so far looks like FC Commander by Apexi with a hand held control where you can change your engine settings from your drivers seat, there is also an HKS alternative amongst many others. Spitronics have apparently just come up with a high boost low boost setting for the Spitronics and I'm trying to get my tuner to get them to include it with my setup. With the aftermarket ecu for a RX7 the benefits are you can remove the speed limiter and actually raise the turbo boost of both turbos above 0.6 bar boost, with the standard ecu you can maybe max 0.9 bar boost pushing it but you still get some problems.

OEM ECU wont cope with that sort of requirement, not without some work. The Apexi unit you mention is excellent, you just missed that you need the Power FC unit in the first place. If you're looking for massive work in the future, I'd look at nothing else but MoTeC or ViPEC - both I've used and tuned and know their reliability is excellent.

Yip the FC Commander is great for all those purposes it's just price wise not what most people would spend so much money on. The spitronic system is pretty much also plug and play but you can't just keep doing adjustments all day as you wish lol until you're happy. The standard ecu is a bit tiresome with so many standard restrictions hey. Yes I've also heard of Microtec etc. It's all about weighing up price over power gain. At present due to me not having too many major mods the Spitronics suits me as it handles all of my demands for now and it's about R4500.00 for the ecu and a cd that comes with it to use on a laptop to perform settings when plugged in.
