Forget 2012, it has nothing on the events that unfold 2013 for Mitsubishi and it's iconic EVO series!

Quote from: worldcarfans.com
The Mitsubishi Evo might be the most recognizable model in the company's lineup, but a new report is indicating the high-performance sedan may be headed to the automotive graveyard.

In an interview with Autocar, Mitsubishi's global product director - Gayu Eusegi - stated the Evolution X would be the last Evo. He added, "There is still a demand, but we must stop."

Apparently, the car's impending death is tied to the company's new eco-friendly strategy which includes launching eight new electric / plug-in hybrid vehicles by 2015. Additionally, Mitsubishi's "mid-term" business plan failed to make any mention of a redesigned Evo despite rumors that a hybridized replacement was in the works.

Looking for clarification, Jalopnik reached out to a Mitsubishi spokesperson who commented "The current Evo is planned through 2012-2013, but we're not talking about our plans after that." The statement is pretty vague, but it's not very reassuring for Evo fans.

Sad news indeed if this is the case.

Hybrid replacement is on the cards but the EVO as we know it will not be around anymore. Let's see how it goes :-)

This whole green evolution is a load of rubbish, scientists around the world are in conflict because some say it's global warming others say it's natural climate change and some state it's the start of a coming ice age again. Even Mazda have redesigned the rotary engine to run on hydrogen which is a better alternative then electric as you don't have to look for a plug point in the middle of nowhere and power seems similar to a petrol engine with absolutely no bad emissions. My choice is I'd opt for methanol as the future of running cars because most engines can be modified into methanol running engines and methanol has almost no power loss between it compared to petrol and it isn't as fuel efficient but it's enviromentally friendly. People shouldn't be forced to change what they drive though, rather we should be given the option as all of our opinions vary the same as the scientists that scare the world into spending their money on alternative cars.

You know what for anybody who truly loves Evo just import them from Japan like the EVO 4 is still a kick ass evo and they're working out to be priced pretty well because it seems nobody wants them anymore and they're still damn quick come on guys don't give up on your dreams..... I mean if we import enough EVOs to South Africa the dream still lives on for every single owner Grin
