First off, Id like to thank IJIN for setting me straight about my car! i was way off. lol.

Next this is going to be a sort of chronically page on my prelude, and I'm seriously behind. I've had some sound installed into the car, and have installed an AEM V2 intake as well as some hood dampers to make future work a bit easier,

Current issues:
My indicators/turn signals don't auto disengage as of this morning  Sad so now i need to fix that.
any idea any one? as far as i know ill have to replace the entire mechanism.
--
Then on the auto box what is the major failing point for the system? i really enjoy having an auto and don't really want to change to a manual, so I'm going to see if there isn't a way of Frankensteining a system to get the power i want and keep the auto, any help would be greatly welcome.

that should do it for now. will post new pics when i can.

Hey dude,

Okay first off what a strange issue, Preludes are not common for this. Turn signals still not cancelling?

Look for the fuse box, there is a 10A relay going to white and green wires on the TOP MOST RIGHT side, #39 I think, check that it's still kosher and correctly rated. Not saying it is the problem but worth ruling out.

Next step is to find an EPC and dissect the steering assembly to work out where the cancellation switches are for the turn signals. They operate when the steering wheel passes between a turn ratio that signals a disconnect of voltage.

Don't have this diagram available, you're going to need to search the net for something, do post up here though.

The auto box will crap out on you when you pass the 120 wkw thresh hold. No joke. Rather start saving for a manual setup. If you're interested in starting your build collection, I've got some spares.

Cheers

No haven't taken the wheel off, since i've had the car. The issue with the indicators is still occurring. Thanks for the info IJIN but i don't think is an electrical issue. Usually when you indicate and you turn the wheel and turn back to center the indicator clicks back to the neutral position. On my car the indicator arm stays either up or down. No matter how I turn the steering. So I think something has happened between the indicator and the steering column. Will strip it this weekend. Hopefully

Back to the auto issue. If that's the case then I'm going to start looking for a project manual prelude. Must just check the finance situation

Yes you are correct, its a mechanical cancellation arm that is most likely out of place or snapped off completely. Haven't seen the Prelude steering setup for myself, only speak from other makes of vehicles I grew up with.

If you manage to get to it, take some pictures of your efforts, would be cool to see what's going on in the assembly. Whatever you do, should you decide to remove steering, do so according to helms to avoid the airbag discharging.

Cool, I agree, don't waist time on the automatic. It's tight tolerence gearing system and Honda's stab at smallest and lightest automatic box of its time, was a complete fail on an unpredicatble level. Some boxes lasted for years on stock motors, others gave up after a few miles, some cause serious fatalities on Freeways at high speed.

Going manual will be both stressful and rewarding. I complete my personal swap soon, after that I'll have a clearer idea of any parts I missed (doubt it) and can advise you if you get stuck.

Cheers.

... say that again, "some cause serious fatalities on Freeways at high speed." that does not sound warm and fuzzy. ill keep an ear out for the signs of my gearbox failing and will then do the presto chango to a manual, but till then have a few maintenance issues to fix, first the indicator arm, then figure out which part of my suspension is making a clucking sound just before i stop and when i accelerate it might be a engine mount but will test it later. then i need to replace my brakes. on that point are there any recommendations on pads for the prelude? has any of you guys used EBC? or should i just get Honda ones?

Nothing wrong with EBC products, there is good reason why they still around  Cool If you looking for something local though, a combination that works well on my other vehicle is the Powerbrake Die Hard series rotors mated with Bendix Ultimate brake pad compound.

Exceptional stopping power with a linear bite profile (Zero fade). Can safely be used on track too if you ever decide to chuck the lude around a little.

PS: Sound you hearing sounds like a gearbox mount from description.

time for an update...
The car is back in the shop with 4 wheel steering issues.. the joys. picked it up this afternoon and found out the issue this time was sensor miss alignment, the reason, as yet unknown, possible causes, are a bit random, really bad wheel alignment, faulty sensor, or the steering rack is toasted. got the guys to check the rack... looks like the front steering rack need to be re conned, leaking and bushes are starting to wear Sad they need the car for 3 days to recon... i did how ever find out something interesting, this car is supposed to have wheel alignment done while its connected to the diagnostics machine, to zero out the sensors. Changes on the car in the near further, stripping off the doors and putting in dynamat, redoing the sound setup, installing a Automatic transmition oil cooler. and building custom fridge in the center console, and cigar boxes for friends.. hey that's not car related but its on my list of things to do.. that's all for now. will post how-to's for the vibration proofing and the oil cooler when i finish, and how to build a mini fridge  Smiley gonna need it for Reboot!!

That you are  Wink Fridge will go down all too well! Damn sounds like a mini club inside your cab ;-)

Dude. The 4WS thing is true unfortunately, any Honda branch familiar with their DTC's (as they should be) can reset this for you.

If you have a proper 4ws issue, I may be able to help you as soon as I've had a look at H22 GT's.

On more thing, what size trans cooler? If you lower the effective operating temperature past optimal you will cause more damage than it's worth. How many rows, width, height and depth.

A little big (length), but the 1.9cm core makes up for that, should work just fine. :-)
