Well, now that I am keeping my prelude and working with what I have Smiley I decided to start a new thread.

I enjoy both cars equally and will use the prelude for styling and not performance until I swop out the gearbox and other items. (this happens later in the thread)

So, where are we?

Well, i've got a brand new accelerator cable i'd like to install soon and a cam belt change that I know is needed together with a major service. My imported exhaust system lands shortly which is going to look great on the car, replacing the OEM branch, cat and exhaust system itself.

I am not expecting a very good sound but sure it will be sufficient for my needs - 4 speed auto's mostly drone anyway Tongue

Suspension will need replacing soon as well as all bushes. I am going to get special camber kits for the car and lower it a bit more to give it a little bit of aggression. I've found original lips for the front bumper and will get one for myself, looking at decent side skirts that look OEM but with more style and then the rear bumper requires attention.

On the plate for this weekend is the throttle body, since playing around with it, I suspect the throttle plate is sticking, I will take it apart and fix. I will also take apart my VTEC solenoid and clean it out to get back the punch it may have once had.

I'm also going to give my car a good wash, just looking for a pump action system for pressure washing for surface dirt removal. Hope I come right.

Removed the throttle body and fixed the problem, the plate wasn't the right way around and caused the butterfly to not fully meet within factory closing specification.

I am very happy so far, been testing the idling and warm up characteristics of the car and all seems great.

Going to take the prelude for a drive now to make sure its all working  Cool

Okay moving onto the manual swap, snipped the parts list from another forum where a member did this swap

Helms Manual
Transmissions Assembly (97+)
Trans mounts-side
Engine Mount-rear (rear is optional-the rear auto mount will work)
Flywheel and bolts
Clutch Kit and bolts
Clutch Master Cylinder
*Clutch Slave Cylinder
*Clutch Dampener
*Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
*Reverse Switch
*Hydrolic Lines
*5spd Starter
Clutch Pedal Assembly
Brake Pedal Assembly
Shifter Assembly
Shift linkage
Auto ECU or 5speed ECU
5spd Intermediate shaft (half-shaft)
5spd Gauge Cluster (optional)
Cotter Pins (assorted sizes)
Assorted Nuts and Bolts

* Most of these is on transmission.

Well the list is missing a bit of parts like brackets etc. but I think this is a start. Really hope to get this stuff asap.

Well slight dampner, overfill tank is bubbling when I turn off car, can mean a few things:

1.) Radiator cap isn't holding pressure
2.) Headgasket is on the way out seeping compression into the line
3.) I have one big mofo air bubble in the system somewhere.

I hope its 1 or 3. Looking for radiator cap now.

Take it to your car to a nearest Silverton radiator dealer. They can do a test to see is you have a blown headgasket. My Ballade had a blown headgasket, and their test proved it.

Another test I'd do, not too sure if it would work but its based on theory. Let your car heat up as with normal driving, let it stand for a while maybe +/- 15min or so, remove spark plug, turn removed spark plug cylinder piston to TDC, tape a Jonson&Jonson ear bud to piece of wire, press softly against piston, inspect for any traces of water/radiator fluid. If my theory is correct the pressure from the cooling system should leak radiator fluid inside the cylinders and you should be able to find traces of it. What happened with my Ballade was that it was bad with cold starts(very rough idle) but after it heated up it was fine. If you shut off the ignition leave it for a minute or so it started right up with no problem, but leave it for half an hour it struggled to idle properly, rev it up it sounded like a car flooding very badly. Ballade was also a wet sleeve design so the principal would stay the same for a H22 i guess.

this is just my 2cents..

Found the problem.

Radiator cap decided to come apart. Can anyone confirm I've fished the entire assembly out? I don't want to top up and have a washer or something floating inside, which will eventually decide to lodge itself somewhere that's going to cost me money.

Cheers.

When you get your new cap ask if they can test it to make sure it holds the right pressure  i tried 3 before i found 1 that held pressure they were supposed to hold 1.1 but bloo off at .9 they had the wrong pressure sticker on ( for my ranger ) looks like all there double check off the new cap  cheers.

Had to settle for a quick fix. Swich helped me out with a old rad cap he used on his Civic, fits perfect and holds the same pressure as stock, 1.1

Very happy so far, no bubbling and no fluid loss, check again in the morning when the car is cool.

Straight out of Japan, just a pity the fakes out there crippled the real company, TRUST / GReddy Japan Cry I may well have of the last batches to be made by them under this name. Darn pity.

Notice how the detail is etched into the top of the cap, not a sticker. Looks great!

During the time locating manual parts I needed to replace brake pads - As you all know, Spoon Sports do not make parts for BB6 Preludes (or any other Prelude for that matter). I had some EK9's though... mmm...

They fit ;-)

Dude, I just checked the ratios on that box, it's a shorter ratio box than the standard preludes. Haven't check it 100% but I am sure 1st - 3rd is shorter, 4th and 5th are longer. It's the perfect box for the bb6.

Luck has been on my side for once. Dewald located some parts a while back and I can finally go check them out:

Shift Cables @ R750.00
Gear Shifter unit with gearstick @ R550.00
Brake and Clutch pedal assembly @ R850.00

All from a rolled lude  Cry  but I needed the parts so badly. I just hope by the time I get to the place they are not sold. Going this Saturday morning (earliest we can).

Wish us luck

Okay had to replace battery today - 621 or 622 codes work in our preludes with an option to move to 638. Note the sides your + and - are on, this determines 621 or 622. (621 is + rear and - closest to right headlight)
