It wasnt just a case of throwing the auto box out because of it being an auto.

Prelude auto boxes with very prone to failure, all of us on the forum who own/owned auto's have all felt the bitter tinge of the Auto box.

The box in itself is weak, rushed into production to beat porsche, yet they are very prone to failure, hence the reason why myself and jdmmonkey did the A2M swop.

So the main motivator for me was I said im keeping the car because I love it so instead of putting another auto box which might fail on me again I might as well do the manual swop now then I know its done.

The auto box was good as well as the tipshift but it was a weak gearbox and it being my DD i needed something reliable.

The difference between the boxes is night and day you need to sit in both to see the differences.

 Shocked What issues  Grin

Kidding... seriously Rob, stay far away from the auto version unless you buying it for the reasons I bought mine many years ago. I bought it because it was babied by the previous owner and I had every intention from day one, to boot the auto and swap in the manual.

After driving LHDVtecs prelude I have to say that the manual conversion is great, has such smooth shifts, I love the way the you can throw gear to gear. Have to say things I didn't like so far was the huge brake pedal left from when it was auto lol but you get used to it but I caught it with my foot the first time I got to drive her, the other thing is that the wiring needs sorting for the cruise control not that I really use it but it's there so it'll have to be made to work soon, the last thing I didn't like was that I hit the rev limiter a couple or more times by accident over revving the car because I expected the redline to go a bit further, forgive me for that LHDVtec don't want to hurt your baby lol. Things I love about the manual change is that the car is alot more alive, it really does motor along and using gears in braking round corners should be interesting with the setup. It pulls off the line decently and reaches speeds with ease plus feels torquer. LHDVtec is a great guy was a pleasure meeting him and sorry for hitting rev limiter so many times while driving your baby. I can believe him when he says he left a slightly modded civic Vtec by about 4 or 5 car lengths because the manual mod makes the prelude wake up

haha I told you,you going to catch that pedal when you drive it.
Dont stress about hitting the limiter bud ill just add a few thousands onto the price for everytime you did lol(seriously its fine bud)
Yip I need to sort out that wiring that I know its done

Funny enough Rob I had a lekker run with another civic after we met JDMtuning stickers all over it,so went for it,needless to say from about 100 to 160 he at minimum pulled about 2 cars on me,it was really quick, did a hoot and that was it.

Then coming down the n12 a snobbish new shape merc c220 cdi didnt want me to pass him,was he in shock when I passed him lol,Rob you definitely added some karma to my day,I had some lovely races all weekend lol. Grin

Now dont forget the Best motoring stuff

well LHDV, it's all about how strong your passion is, I mean your love for your car. If your heart is very strong willed it's like a magnet for awesomeness lol. I did like the feel that under Vtec it's so relaxed and then at 5500 it comes alive and then closer to 6000 that prelude butterfly thing where it has a yawn and rubs the sleep out it's eyes and really wakes up. Was fun driving yours and making new car friends along the way is all part of the deal but as you can judge I love cars and really put my heart into them. Such a pity when I drove your car there weren't too many corners or roads without cameras hence why you initially noticed I backed off early in 3rd each time. As I said if the car isn't sold to me then you have to find somebody that will take care of her like she is a part of them, can't just sell the car to some idiot where you know that's the end of her life as a Vtec. With myself I hope you at least noticed I'd take care of her lol.

okay small update for now.

I think I may have finally found that thud..thud.thud i spoke off earlier.

What happen was;

Driving cool on the highway all of a sudden on acceleration I get a shudder in the entire car, bummer was that i was 60km from home,i nurtured it home, took it to the mechanic,
and his verdict:

CV's are all messed up including those tripod things that hold it all together so thats being replaced, will report back on the ride once i fetch it today.

Additionally:
Power steering fluid
Gearbox fluid
gearbox seal

I havent updated for quite some time, however I have been in a bit of a financial mess.

And thankfully my situation has improved.

@Jdmmonkey: will be mailing you soon,I need the manual tensioner kit soon.

Also what say this here forum on the energy suspension inserts specifically for the mounts?

3 out of 4 of my mounts are still tops however one is very worn(read VERY worn), the one in front of exhaust.

Could I just use the suspension inserts as a quick fix?

Hi there.

Don't use inserts in worn / broken mounts. They are designed to take up the excess play and give a complete solid mount feeling without actually filling or converting the mount to a full solid setup.

By fitting the insert to a broken mounting you are wasting your time, it's going to flex and move - helping nothing to stablize the engine.

No problem on tensioner kit, let me know when you're ready and I'll sort you out with one.
